Our first vintage of Pressing Matters Chardonnay

$65

This small-batch Chardonnay is crafted from only two barrels of hand-harvested grapes. The whole bunches are pressed and directly transferred into French oak for wild fermentation. 25% of the oak is new, while 75% is seasoned. This gives the wine a round balanced body and distinctive texture.

The Chardonnay undergoes 100% malolactic fermentation, which adds complexity and richness. It is aged for 8 months on lees without lees stirring, followed by 2 months of tank settling. This results in a wine with a unique and refined tasting experience.

On the nose, the wine is full of ripe fruit aromas, such as apple, pear, and peach. There are also hints of vanilla, toast, and spice.

On the palate, the wine is rich and creamy, with a touch of minerality from the limestone soil its grown in. The fruit flavors are well-balanced with the oak, and the finish is long and lingering.

Chardonnay sourced from the Coal River Valley in Tasmania. Mid-straw in the glass with aromas of citrus, white peach and nectarine fruits. There's a light whiff of complex stuck-match notes in the mix with hints of soft spice, white flowers, crushed stone and light herbal tones. Some clotted cream and vanilla notes join in on the palate, which shows clarity, detail and citrus and peach notes on the finish.
