2018 Morningside Pinot Dozen

Morningside's old vine pinot, crafted from 9 clones yielding 4t/ha, unfolded in a delicate dance of destemmed fruit and 15% whole bunch. Guided by wild yeast, fermentation began after 4 days of cold soaking. Post-basket pressing, the pinot aged 18 months in 1/3 new and 2/3 seasoned oak, undergoing natural malolactic fermentation in barrel in spring. Two winters on fine lees yielded a clean and complex wine, bottled without fining or filtration—a pure expression of the Morningside character.
